Crafted in 20th century China, this superb model showcases a flower basket brimming with various types of flowers and leaves.
The basket is decorated using the very complex technique of cloisonné enamelling whereby small individual metal sections are filled with enamel and fired. The polychrome design includes lilies which in Chinese culture are symbolic of harmony and unity. The flowers are surrounded by scrolling motifs all on a yellow ground. The upper part of the basket is wider, its underside with a monochrome floral design, and the inside with one mirroring the design of the lower bulbous part. The handle is of an angular shape and rises above the flower tree.
The flower tree is filled with four selections of hardstone flowers, each type bunched together. The model includes pink, orange, green, and cream flowers some in full bloom while others in a bud state. The stigmas are formed from many yellow and orange beads. Hardstones used include jade, carnelian, and rose quartz. The branches are crafted from metal wire wrapped in thread and the tree trunk is formed from metal.
The lavish floral composition would be a superb home décor addition to both traditional and modern interiors.
