Crafted in the 20th century, the flower tree model wonderfully showcases the skills of Chinese artists.
Extending from the brown metal tree trunk are several branches. Each one is crafted from thread-covered metal and terminates with carved pastel green jade leaves. Interspersed between the leaves is a selection of flowers crafted from hardstones such as agate and rose quartz. The darker-coloured flowers beautifully stand out against the paler leaves. Next to the tree trunk is a larger hardstone flower.
The pot is lavishly adorned with a selection of eye-catching motifs. The two larger panels include depictions of pots filled with flowers and foliage, including cherry blossoms. A round deep blue flower vase on a wooden pedestal can be observed on the two smaller sides. In between the interesting compositions are further, larger floral and scrolling motifs. The illustrations are rendered in bold hues such as green and the turquoise ground adds vibrancy to this collectable.
