Description

This fine Meissen porcelain centrepiece features a rockwork base edged with moulded scrollwork heightened in gilding, pink, and turquoise. The base rises to a shaft with a moulded scrollwork cartouche on each side painted with a floral spray and applied on the sides with flowers and a series of deftly formed putti emblematic of the seasons. The shaft is surmounted by a two-handled, pierced, shaped quatrelobe basket applied with flowers and painted with floral sprays within gilt scrollwork cartouches.

The piece was modelled by E. A. Leuteritz and features to the underside of the base crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, incised model number 605, impressed 148, and painter's number 28.
