This fine decorative piece made in the early 20th century is wrought from patinated bronze to depict a large crab.Â
With its claws raised high, the crab is showcased standing on all his legs. The brown, grey and maroon colouration created on the surface of the patinated bronze adds a subtle yet impactful feature to this sculpture. The varied colouration beautifully contrasts and plays with the smooth surface of the bronze. Finely cast, one can observe anatomical details found on a real crab. Â
On the reverse, the piece is signed ‘MOORE’. Â
Of a large size, depicting a crustacean, the sculpture would make a magnificent addition to the collection of anyone interested in sea life.
