Of an elegant design, this large, eight-piece tea and coffee set is made from sterling silver by the Peruvian maker, Carlo Mario Camusso.
The set comprises a large hot water kettle on a stand with a burner, coffee pot, teapot, milker, two sugar bowls, and a pair of tongs. All pieces are displayed on a tray with richly decorated borders and twin handles.
Each piece stands on four outward-curling feet, topped with foliate detailing. All pieces are of a bulbous form, synonymous with the Rococo style. The kettle as well as tea and coffee jugs feature long, ornate spouts, their design coherent with the rest of the elements. All pieces apart from the sugar bowl have beautifully crafted handles with scrolling motifs with detailing in the form of acanthus leaves.
The covers of the kettle, pots, and sugar bowl are of a fluted form and are surmounted with a beautifully cast scroll motif, allowing for a more comfortable grip. Â
Carlo Mario Camusso founded his firm in 1933 after he came to Peru from Italy. Quickly, his pieces became synonymous with Peruvian silver and were renowned internationally. The firm still exists today producing high quality silverware for an international and elite clientele.
The set is fully hallmarked and inscribed ‘INDUSTRY PERUANA / PLATA ESTERLINA / 925 CAMUSSO’.
All pieces weight approximately 8,500 grams.
