Large rhodonite, rock crystal and silver gilt desk lamp by Asprey

Manufactured by Asprey, the leading British firm of silversmiths, goldsmiths and jewellers, this spectacular lamp is crafted from a range of luxurious materials.

The lampshade and base are carved from rhodonite. The naturally occurring colouring of the stone creates a palette of muted, yet eye-catching colours, including tones of maroon, black and white.

The slender central stem of the desk lamp is crafted from rock crystal, leading the eye upwards towards the upper design features of the piece. Silver-gilt detailing beautifully shines through the rock crystal stem. The semi-spherical rhodonite lampshade, mounted on top of the rock crystal stem is topped with pierced silver gilt detailing depicting a floral motif and is further framed in a silver gilt border. Rhodonite symbolises compassion, while rock crystal symbolises balance, purity and clarity, adding intriguing meaning to this Asprey table lamp.

The stepped round base is formed from three variously sized rhodonite circles, each one framed in a silver gilt border in a similar manner to that of the lampshade detailing, creating a cohesive design across the piece.

The Asprey mark is visible to the front of the base and the reverse is marked ‘925’ for sterling silver in addition to other indistinct marks.
