This fine Royal Copenhagen porcelain centrepiece features a columnar shaft modelled as a tightly grouped spray of blades of grass, which springs from a pebbly circular foot. Set within the grassy column are two figures, both of whom gaze upwards towards the top section of the centrepiece, which features a reclining water god—possibly Poseidon—resting atop a grassy bed with his right arm atop an over-turned amphora issuing water and his left hand holding a trident.
The porcelain throughout is finely wrought, with the figures rendered with sculptural detail. The colour palette is bright and vibrant.
The underside of the foot is marked for Royal Copenhagen.
