Meissen style porcelain mounted brass and iron chandelier
Style of Meissen Porcelain Manufactory (German, founded 1710)
£9,500
This beautiful chandelier, crafted in the manner of Meissen, features an abundance of vibrantly coloured flowers, each one wrought from delicately encrusted porcelain.
This fine eight-light chandelier is crafted in the style of Meissen. The chandelier features an iron structure, with a cylindrical central stem. The bottom of the stem supports the springing of eight S-scroll iron branches, each branch applied with scrolling brass wirework imitative of winding foliage.
The chandelier is profusely adorned with porcelain: the candleholder and drip pan of each branch is imitative of floral buds, while throughout the chandelier further flowers crafted from encrusted polychrome porcelain abound; the flowers spring from the top of the central stem, are mounted along the shaft of the stem, and are interspersed among the candle branches.
