This exquisite cabinet was crafted in France around 1870. Made from a variety of high-quality materials it is a display of high-quality 19th century craftsmanship.
The furniture piece is surmounted with a black marble top. Below is an ormolu mounted frieze depicting various motifs such as the bead and reel pattern as well as large and superbly cast acanthus leaves. All doors are masterfully decorated with gilt bronze decoration and mounted with eye-catching hardstone designs.
The central cabinet door depicts a vase richly filled with flowers, fruits and foliage. Bright red cherries as well as pears are portrayed among a rich green composition of foliage and pink and white flowers. The two side doors are decorated similarly with marigold ribbon-tied compositions. The numerous branches of foliage are hanging down with various types of cherries and flowers dispersed in between. All doors are framed in a double ormolu border, further emphasizing the superb pietra dura adornments. The individual cabinets are lockable and open to reveal storage compartments with one shelf.
The columns dividing the three doors are further mounted with ormolu pieces. The mounts portray both male and female figures, richly dressed amongst natural motifs such as acanthus leaves. The door handles are shaped with similar faces.
The base of the piece is elegantly formed and mounted with additional ormolu mounts to complement the rest of the design.
This very fine cabinet, with exceptional decoration, would make a stunning addition to the appropriate interior space, adding grandeur and elegance.
