Description

The runner features a vibrant red field which is woven with blue, pink and green wool, forming stylised floral motifs. This field is framed by a blue inner border which is decorated with orange and red floral patterns. Beyond this is the main border, which features a pattern of red and white diagonal stripes, dotted with orange flowers. The outer border is woven in the same style as the inner one, and it is edged by a white and black band with red, blue and green dots.

This runner was created in the north west of Persia which included parts of modern-day Iran, Azerbaijan and Armenia. The area produced beautiful, fine quality rugs and carpets in the 19th and early 20th Century which are now highly collectable.
