Description

This oval porcelain plaque by KPM is painted with a three-quarter length portrait of a woman standing askance, her left side positioned towards the picture plane. The woman, dressed in Orientalist garb, stands with both hands resting atop a terracotta water amphora. The painterly manner is superb, with flowing, delicate brushstrokes employed to render exquisite detail, all in a subdued, almost monochromatic palette.

The plaque is contained within an ornate giltwood frame by a velvet mount and is marked to the reverse with the mark for KPM.
