These superb oil lamps, easily converted into electric lamps, feature elegantly shaped porcelain bodies painted with delicate depictions of flowers and butterflies.
This pair of Chinoiserie style oil lamps features ormolu (gilt bronze) mounts and Bayeux porcelain bodies. Each bulb shaped lamp is supported by an ormolu base cast with foliate motifs. The neck of each lamp is intersected by a protruding ormolu circular frieze, and the lamp apparatus that surmounts each piece is also wrought from ormolu. The wonderfully shaped porcelain body of each lamp is beautifully painted, the decorative elements depicting distinctively Chinese figures and delicately painted flowers, leaves, and butterflies, all executed in subtle shades of blue, pink, and green.
