Description

These two opulent chandeliers are an identical pair, with their design reminiscent of the ornate Belle Époque style which dominated France at the end of the 19th century.

The central stem of each chandelier is formed from a large cut-glass piece adorned with geometric patterns. Just above the bottom bowl, a small glass canopy extends, hung with speared pendants. From the bottom bowl extends eight branching arms that are cut with a rope design. The branches terminate in elegant hurricane shades with gently waved rims. The shades are etched with floral designs that become even more visible when the chandelier is illuminated. Each shade sits on a tiered floral-shaped cut-glass bobeche, from which hang a series of droplets and pendants that add to the sense of luxury.

The upper tier of each chandelier is purely decorative: six rope-style arms curl downwards from the top canopy. Each arm terminates in a cut-glass flower, from which hangs a tiered pendant of two upside-down flowers, centred by a speared pendant. An identical tiered pendant also hangs from the bottom bowl.

These superb chandeliers are lavishly designed, with delicate foliate motifs adorning both the cut-glass pendants and the shades themselves. The pair would make a wonderful addition to the appropriate interior space.
