Crafted in the 20th century and made as stands with showpiece vases in mind, these objects consist of indulgent and flowing giltwood carving decoration, with marble inset tops. They are French-made, imitating a general lavish earlier baroque style. The decoration consists of floral motifs interlaced with songbirds in four sections just below the upper surface, and continues down curved, arcing legs which are connected with a simple cross design towards the base. Simple yet effective, these fine objects work as stand alone pieces, but are ideally designed to complement a pair of lavish and eyecatching pieces placed on top.Â
