This magnificent pair of still life floral paintings is executed in the 17th Century Dutch manner. Each painting portrays a classicised stone urn, seen from a low vantage point, laden to abundance with a floral arrangement. Each floral bouquet is set against a grey-brown background, the muted colour of which serves to enhance the vibrancy of the flowers in the forefront. The floral arrangements, of pink and blue and red flowers of many types are visited by several small, skilfully painted birds, some at rest and some in flight.
The paintings are held within ornately carved giltwood frames.
