The very large candelabra in this pair are crafted from malachite and ormolu, or gilt bronze, in the resplendent Louis XV Rococo style.
Each piece features a large, tall malachite body, with a bulbous lower section that tapers upwards into a long, slender neck. Along the lenght, they are profusely adorned with superbly cast ormolu mounts. Each piece is also raised on a set of four scrolled feet, each of which is wrought in the manner of a Baroque-style dolphin - thus combining a multitude of exceptional decorative styles. Between each of these feet, are emblazoned large rocaille-like scallop shell motifs, forming an apron. The shoulders of each are set with wonderfully ornate foliate ormolu mounts, a theme which continues in the mounts that adorn the neck.
Each candelabrum supports the springing of eight branches arranged over two tiers, each scrolled branch moulded with rich foliate detailing. The candleholder and drip pan of each branch are crafted in a similar Rococo style.
