Of a very impressive size, this pair of candelabra is crafted from a large selection of high quality materials.
Both candelabras are of an identical design. The very rich and ornate candelabra are made up of three levels, with the highest one being the largest and most prominent. Several twisted ‘S’ shaped blue glass arms extend from the central stem. Each one terminates with a clear cut glass lights with slender, hurricane shades adorned with wavy gilt rims. These feature a gilded ‘RR’ mark, most likely the logo of the hotel they were crafted for. The shades are attached to blue cut glass candle cups. Below are ornate bobeches from which hangs a selection of cut glass drops and beaded chains. Â
The two lower levels are of a similar design and include a striking patterned ormolu frame attached to the central stem from which extend several candleholders, filled with cut glass drops. The base of the ormolu frame is further adorned with cut glass drops in both blue and clear versions and is mounted with star-shaped cut glass pieces. Patinated rocaille-shaped arms extend above each of the two levels terminating with a selection of ormolu and cut-glass decorations.
Larger, bulbous clear cut glass pieces are placed in between each level further accentuating the grand design of the pair.
Each candelabra stands on a base crafted from two types of marble. The column is created from a richly veined, brown-red marble, and the stepped, round top and bottom are carved from black marble. Delicate ormolu mounts adorn their circumference.
Combining several styles and materials, this pair of candelabra would be an outstanding addition to one’s interior, for example framing a doorway or a staircase.
