Description

This exquisite antique furniture set is built in the Neoclassical style and features blue and white painted decorations all over, with carved giltwood detailing throughout. The tables are topped with veined green marble, which sits on carved giltwood friezes, in turn supported by four tapered, fluted legs on pin feet.

The mirrors rest on the marble tops and take the form of a square mirror panel inside a rectangular wooden frame. The mirror is bordered with gilt bands of foliate motifs, and decorated to either side with fluted columns with draped laurel garlands, mounted with scrolling metal candle holders. At the top of the mirror frame there is a giltwood egg and dart band, above which sits a plinth-form pediment set with a central frieze panel showing scrolling gilt acanthus leaf motifs, on painted blue ground. The plinth is surmounted by an impressive carved giltwood mount showing a central shell with scrolling foliage and laurel wreaths around.
