Pair of antique ebonised wood and specimen marble obelisks
£35,000
These monumental Italian obelisks are striking examples of the Egyptian Revival style, and feature bright geometric patterns that would suit an exterior setting.
These striking obelisks—the form of the obelisk derived from Egyptian architecture—are crafted from parcel gilt ebonised wood inlaid with a variety of marble specimens. Each obelisk features a rectangular plinth-form base supporting the tapering pyramid-topped body of the obelisk itself. The surfaces are profusely inlaid with a geometrical arrangement of marble specimens, including examples of lumichella, Siena marble, brocatello, porphyry, and verde antico.
