Description

This pair of matching Russian Imperial period beakers (or vodka cups) are made of solid 875 grade silver. The bodies of the beakers are cylindrical in form, flaring from a narrower base to a wider rim. Each beaker features a grey-black ground overlaid with cloisonné enamel wrought into scrolling foliate motifs encompassed by applied silver rope twist ornamentation. The top and the bottom registers of each beaker feature sequential enamel beads in a rich blue. The lip of each beaker is ornamented with applied twisted ropework in silver. The colour palette is rich: shades of blue predominate, offset by primary red and green tones.

The beakers are stamped underside with the maker's mark 'CMW' and with an assey mark.
