Description

Each pedestal is cuboid in shape and is topped with a square veined marble plinth, which sits above an ormolu frieze.The frieze features Classical style decorations, including vases and festoons, and sits above an Ionic capital. To the centre of the front of each pedestal there is an ormolu medallion which depicts the gods Orion and Sirius. The central column is built from mahogany and satinwood and is supported by a square ormolu-mounted base.
