This wonderful pair of flower basket models, in the form of stunning floral arrangements in silvered and gilt-metal, with berries, leaves, and flowers, mounted on gold-plated wired stems, were cast intricately and with exquisite detail by the Gorham manufactory of Providence, Rhode Island in the mid-1970s.
Each piece contains an array of flowers, bulds, stems, and petals, each an invidual piece of silvered or gilt metal, arranged within a gilt oval basket with a swinging handle. Designed by Jane Hutcheson for this leading manufacturer of beautiful decorative wares and objets d'art, they are part of the larger 'Fleurs des Siècles' line: works inspired by 18th century Vincennes porcelain flower models.
Some pieces do feature porcelain mounts or baskets, others are purely gilt and silvered metal, such as these extraordinarily intricate and high quality decorative works. Wonderful works of art in their own right, they also function as beautiful home accents.
