Unique, and exceptionally fine, this beautiful Eight-Day going watch is by the maker Parmigiani of Fleurier, Switzerland, and is inspired by the splendour of Ancient Egypt.Â
With the power provided by two going barrels, this superb timepiece is cast in solid 18K pink gold, large, heavy and hand-engraved, with a keyless hunting case, and a black onyx dial. The case is three-bodied with a scene of an Egyptian lady resting on her bed, watched by a Nubian servant and with a leopard in the foreground on the front. The image is set within a stepped milled-edge border, a polished back, and the back is engraved with a view of a terrace and the river behind, with the servant reflected in a mirror.
The dial is a beautiful, minimalistic and modern black onyx face, with 12 applied at the top in Egyptian hieroglyphics. The watch features pink gold javelin hands, and a power-reserve sector at 3. The movement, No. 17005, Cal. 24''', is two-tone rhodium and pink gold plated, with 29 jewels, and hand-engraved papyrus decoration.
Truly unique, it is an exceptional piece of watchmaking and artistry, made in the 2000s.
