Description

The cup is of circular form, and decorated with enamel all over. The front bears the symbol of Tsar Nicholai II of Russia and the Imperial eagle, surrounded by interlaced geometric patterns and gilding to the rim.

This cup was made to commemorate the Russian Imperial Coronation of Tsar Nicholai II of Russia on 26th May 1896. Tragedy struck when the crowd celebrating and receiving gifts of these cups surged and panicked, leading to injuries and nearly 1,400 deaths, known as the Khodynka Tradegy
