Description

The pill box is set with turquoise guilloche enamel detailing around the outside. It is hinged at the back and opens to reveal an interior of silver gilt. On its lid, the box is crowned with a mounted monogram for Tsar Nicholai I, the Emperor of Russia who ruled between 1825 and 1855. The bottom of the box is hallmarked for St Petersburg, where it was made.
