Description

This large German pewter tray is of irregular oval form, featuring a raised and moulded lip. The large central panel of the tray is richly engraved in a naïve style: an image of a house above a German inscription is set within an oak wreath on the left side; on the right, an image of angular elements, likewise set above a German inscription, is also contained within an oak wreath. The tray is centred with a circular medallion, which contains an indistinct stamp and the date ‘1743’ inscribed by hand.
