Description

Of a very refined design, this set of twenty-four charger plates (also called underplates) was crafted in the 20th century.

Each silver charger plate is of a pared-down design, only with subtle beaded edges. During a formal dinner, the charger plates act as a ‘canvas’ on which other plates filled with food are to be placed. The larger size of these silver plates ensures that all others will be elegantly displayed.

First introduced in medieval times, charger palates have been used for centuries to help retain the heat of the food placed on top of them, prevent food from staining the tablecloth, and protect the table from heat damage.

The pieces are marked ‘N900’ and together weigh approximately 12,708 grammes.

Charger plates serve a fundamental role within a table setting, and this collection would look beautifully displayed during dinner parties.
