Description

Decorated with acanthus leaves, flames and two putti laying a wreath around the translucent blue guilloché enamel dial, this superb table clock was made in the late nineteenth century in France Belle Époque period.

This piece is typical of the flaboyance of the Belle Époque, a period of unparalleled optimism, prosperity, and creative productivity. The rolling acanthus leaves and putti are exemplary of the time, what is unusual, however, is the material choice: silver-gilt for the entirity of the work is very rare and sets this work apart in terms of crafts, quality, and prestige. This is a remarkabke piece for the right collector.
