Description

Crafted in the 20th century, this wonderful object d’art is carved to depict a cockerel atop an amethyst base.

The bird is made from a selection of semi-precious stones. Its body is expertly carved from tiger’s eye coloured in shades of yellow and brown. The makers of this bird model have used the full potential of the natural beauty of the stone, as one side of the cockerel features darker shades while the other side has lighter shades imitating what one might see on the animal. The model is completed with masterful carving to imitate the feather textures.

Jasper is used for the comb and wattles. The detailing in addition to the red colouring is exceptional and adds to the overall realistic look of the model. Its delicate beak is most likely carved from jasper and its eyes are made from ruby.

The cockerel majestically stands on two silver legs mounted onto an amethyst base. The purple-coloured rock glimmers and shines in sunlight adding to the overall impressive look of the pieces.

Cockerel is believed to be a symbol of good luck and prosperity, while amethyst is considered to be a stone of peace and wisdom.

This cockerel proudly standing atop a rock would make an exceptional home décor piece if displayed in the appropriate space.
