This Turkish ewer, in the Ottoman style, is cast in solid silver, and would traditionally be used for the washing of hands before eating or on ceremonial occasions.
This traditional ewer and accompanying basin are crafted in solid silver. The ewer features a slender, scrolled spout and curled handle set onto the elongated, slim neck, which is surmounted by a hinged lid with a ball finial. The base of the ewer is of rounded form, and nestles into the deep, round well of the basin. The basin features a broad, sweeping rim which exhibits the excellent casting of the silver.
