Turquoise, amber, youngite agate and silver model of sparrows

This sweet model of a pair of sparrows was expertly crafted in the 20th century from a selection of high-quality materials.

The bodies are carved from turquoise, a semi-precious stone. Often the stone features dark speckles throughout its surface, however the bird models are only coloured in the vibrant turquoise, making them a very desirable addition to one’s collection. Delicate carved detailing is executed on both birds to imitate the feather textures one would see on the sparrows.

Their beaks are carved from amber, the bright orange superbly contrasting with the neon blue. Jet stone is most likely used for the black, round eyes. Both birds stand on two silver legs. They are positioned facing each other on top of the youngite agate piece. This type of agate beautifully shimmers in the sunlight, adding elegance and charm to this object d’art.
