Very large rhodochrosite, nephrite, silver gilt and rock crystal flower model

This outstanding and very large flower model was expertly crafted in 20th century Europe. Made from a variety of materials its design and execution make it seem as if the flower has just been picked.

A single, beautifully cast, and silver gilt stem emerges from the frosted rock crystal vase, an unusual material choice for this type of objet d’art. The vase design features a swirling pattern around its circumference as if imitating the waves of water that a real flower would be placed in.

Around the base of the stem are two magnificently carved nephrite leaves. The various tones of green naturally occurring in the stone add to the realistic feel of the piece. The stem grows larger towards the top where it terminates in a charming rhodochrosite flower, most likely a tulip. Each of the six petals is spectacularly well crafted to imitate a fully bloomed flower. The pink and white colours of rhodochrosite interplay with each other creating superb patterns on the surface of the petals. Each petal also features a slender white detailing that terminates towards the central petal which surrounds the pistil and stigma. A vibrant purple gemstone is inset in the gilded silver imitating the stigma of the flower.

All semi-precious stones used to create this outstanding flower model have spiritual meanings. Rhodochrosite symbolises selfless love, nephrite symbolises deep peace and strength while rock crystal is associated with new beginnings.
