Description

This beautiful clock is set on a tri-form white marble base with short gilt bronze feet. Standing upon this are three gilt bronze winged cherubs draped in a garland of flowers, holding aloft the oval shaped blue tole clock case. It is decorated with gilt bronze stars and inset to the centre with a circular 360 degree turning enamel dial. The clock case is surmounted by a group of doves in clouds fashioned in gilt bronze.

This clock is modelled in a similar manner to an 18th Century clock by François Vion (French, 1737-1790), but with the cherubs replaced by three female figures- known as The Three Graces. A 19th Century version of that clock can be seen here.
