Boin-Taburet (French, active 1880-1900)

The Boin-Taburet metalwork firm was established in 1873 by George Boin and Emile Taburet, and is accredited with the revival of Louis XV Rococo style silverware in 1880s Paris. Boin-Taburet produced wares of extremely fine quality, all of which exhibit a superb attention to detail. Due to this technical expertise, the Boin-Taburet firm won a major award at the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris. The company became especially famous for producing a number of surtout de tables, most of which were crafted to resemble garden lakes or ponds with ornamental sculptures, fountains and urns.
