This fine bowl is of traditional form, with a body set above three bulbous feet and a rim mounted with twin looped handles. The bowl is crafted from bronze, which is gilt on occasion, including the feet, the rim, the handles, and the two shaped cartouches to the front and reverse of the body. The surface of the bowl is profusely adorned with cloisonné enamel: scrolling arabesques and flowers of a variety of kinds are set above the turquoise ground, their forms outlined with gold cloisonné wire and coloured with polychrome enamels. The twin cartouches contain embossed Thuluth Arabic script, indicating that the piece was produced from the Islamic market. It is signed underside with a mark in traditional Chinese script.
