Description

This charming collection of five dog-themed objects includes examples crafted from a variety of materials, depicting dogs of a range of breeds in an array of styles.

The set is comprised of a porcelain bulldog, his head a lid and his body a tobacco jar: between is front feet is inscribed in gilt ‘tobacco’. Also included is a desk bowl crafted from green onyx and featuring a small seated ormolu dog. A wooden ashtray includes the patinated bronze bust of a dog with a dead pheasant in his mouth, while the lid of a small cylindrical box is finished with two dogs cosily tucked into bed. Finally, a desk thermometer features an owl-form finial and an assemblage of hunting paraphernalia as well as a seated dog, who cranes his neck to eye the owl.
