Empire style gilt and patinated bronze mounted malachite table

This superb centre table was crafted in France during the 20^th Century in the distinctive Empire style, which first flourished during the early decades of the 19^th Century. The table features a circular malachite top encompassed by an ormolu border finished with egg-and-dart moulding. The top is supported by four ormolu legs, the top of each mounted with a patinated bronze twisted-leg and winged female figure; each leg terminates in a paw foot. The four legs are raised on a concave-sided square bronze base, which is edged with an ormolu border and centred with a malachite and ormolu urn, topped by an ormolu flambeau finial.
