£24,000
This imposing French commode, in the Louis XVI or Neoclassical style, features a beautiful veined marble top and adds a refined elegance to any luxury interior.
The commode is rectangular in shape, and stands on four fluted mahogany legs. Above each leg, the raised corners of the commode feature further fluting and acanthus leaf ormolu mounts at the top. To the front of the commode there are three drawers; the two lower drawers are larger and have rosewood fronts, each with two circular ormolu handles and a florally decorated ormolu lock. The top drawer is mounted with a florally decorated ormolu frieze to the front, below a veined white marble top. The commode is a late 19th Century piece, based on the design by 18th Century French cabinetmaker Jean-Francois Leleu.
