This three-piece clock set, comprised of a mantel clock and a pair of flanking en suite vases, is crafted from malachite and ormolu in the ornate Louis XVI style—the malachite veneer being a later, beneficial addition.
The mantel clock features a shaped malachite base surmounted by a curved pyramidal-form malachite plinth, atop of which sits the cylindrical clock drum. The malachite base is adorned with classicising ormolu mounts, including an emblem comprised of a crossed quiver and flaming torch and a frieze of intertwined laurel sprays. The clock drum contains a circular enamel dial inscribed with Arabic numeral hour indices and painted with delicate floral garlands. The drum is surmounted by a large malachite urn, which is topped by a leafy pomegranate finial and mounted to its sides with twin goat's head masks. The case, between the drum and the base, is mounted with twin scrolled foliate buttresses.
The en suite vases are similarly decorated, each featuring a square malachite base, a waisted ormolu socle, and a malachite vase body topped with a conforming pomegranate finial and mounted to the shoulders with twin goat's head masks.
