This elegant pair of stools was expertly made in Italy in around 1840.
Each stool stands on a beautifully hand-carved walnut frame. A plain frieze tops a pair of shaped and scrolled opposing X-frame supports, which are centred by a roundel, a refined addition to the overall stool design. The two X-shaped walnut legs are joined together by a ring-turned baluster cross stretcher, of a similar high quality as the rest of the wooden frame.
The walnut frame is topped by an upholstered seat. The upholstery fabric is of a marigold colour, creating a wonderful and eye-catching contrast between the dark brown frame. On top of the seat is placed a plush cushion, upholstered in the same fabric as the seat. The edges of both the seats and the cushions are adorned with green and cream trim. The four corners of each cushion are further adorned with two large tassels of similar colours as the trims.
This pair of Italian stools can be displayed alone or as a collection with a set of four stools of an identical design available here.
