This superb pair of wall lights, crafted from finely cast and gilded bronze, is a magnificent example of the Louis XVI style, replete with rich Neoclassical detailing.
The wall lights are crafted from ormolu, or gilt bronze, in the Louis XVI style. Each light features a columnar backplate elaborately modelled with classicising details: the shaft of the backplate is finished below with acanthus leaf mouldings and above with a superbly rendered urn-form finial, draped with finely cast foliate swags; the central shaft is affixed at bottom with a berry drop finial and at top with a flambeau surmount. Each wall light supports the springing of three branches, each scrolled branch applied with grasping acanthus leaves and leafy garlands in an excellent display of bronze casting.
