Description

This beautiful ewer with cover is crafted from majolica in the style made famous by the French craftsman Palissy. The ewer is modelled as a green mossy mound, with the handle shaped and glazed in the figure of a lizard. The body of the ewer is applied with earthy coloured figures of geckos and insects, while the cover is topped with a brown toad finial.

The underside is signed 'M.MAFRA / CALDAS / PORTUGAL'.
