This liquor set is exceptional both for its very fine quality, and for the elaborate and equally impressive case, an unusual and rare find for such a high-quality antique drinking set as this.
Featuring a trio of beautiful Rococo Sèvres-style porcelain plaques, and another on the lid's interior, and a rich, lavish Baroque style ormolu mount with a pair of putti on top, the case opens out to reveal a stunning gilt glass drinking set. It comes with four large decanters, in 'canted' rectangular form, of brown and clear cut glass, adorned with an exquisite gilt pattern all over and extensive beams and bars of gilding on the structural elements and around the neck, each with a stopper.
The glasses are similarly embellished, with a square bases and ten-edged rims, each emblazzoned with the same pattern and gilding round rim and base. The deacanters would have all had labels, one still says 'Cherry Brandy.' All of the items sits perfectly on an octagonal base, wich has a large ormolu handle in the centre, a small gilt foot on each vertex, and a beautiful band around the outside into which the glasses fit. A stunning collection, this is an antique liquor set of the highest quality and beauty, and is not to be missed.
