Description

This superb sculpture group is crafted from cold-painted bronze in the Orientalist style. The large piece is by Franz Xaver Bergman, who is celebrated for his figurative bronzes. The group depicts a standing man in the midst of prayer: his arms are outstretched and he looks towards the heavens, while he stands barefoot on a prayer rug. The bronze throughout is superbly cast and rendered, with the most intricate of details finely depicted, while the colour palette is bright and vibrant.

The underside is impressed ‘B’ for Bergman.
