Description

This large bronze lamp is by Franz Xaver Bergman, a Viennese craftsman famed for his bronze productions. The lamp is crafted from cold-painted bronze in the Orientalist style. It depicts a figure folding up his richly painted prayer rug. Above, hanging from a mock wooden structure, is a minaret-style lamp, which is suspended from chains and draped with further chain adornments. The bronze throughout the lamp is intricately and finely cast, and the cold painting is especially bright and vibrant.

The underside of the base is stamped 'B' for Bergman.
