Consisting of a central clock flanked by a pair of candelabra, this beautiful three-piece set is by French firm Raingo Frères, and features exquisite sculptural mounts after examples by the Neoclassical master Claude Michel, known as 'Clodion.'
The clock is set within a white marble case, the dial of which is signed, 'Raingo Fres / A Paris.' The candelabra are mounted on small circular bases, also in white marble, inlaid round the outside with small gilt frienzes, and mounted on 'spinner-top' feet. The central piece is mounted with a spectacular sculptural group after Clodion, known variously as the 'Bacchantes' or 'Bacchanalia,' a group of dancer in revelry, which is signed 'Clodion /1762,' and 'Raingo F.res.' The pair of candelabra, with large, six-lamp cornucopia are held by similar patinated bronze sculptural groups.
