Chinoiserie

Inspired by the arts and design from China, Japan and other Asian countries, the Chinoiserie style reached its peak popularity in the mid-18th Century. The term refers to imitation Asian art, which originated in Europe rather than the East. Typical features of Chinoiserie design feature exotic landscapes, populated by fanciful landscapes, animals, architecture and people.
