Art Deco originated in France at the beginning of the 20th Century, and had a profound influence upon the visual appearance and design of architecture, fashion and even more mundane, everyday objects. Visually, Art Deco can only be described as an amalgamation of many different styles. Combining elements of Modernism, Cubism and Fauvism, as well as more traditional Louis XVI and Asiatic design, Art Deco became symbolic of modern luxury, glamour and technological progress.
